My Aged Care Bill Passes Parliament.
On 25th November 2024 the Australian Parliament passed the Aged Care Bill, which means the new Aged Care Act can start from 1st July 2025.
This historic passing of the Bill paves the way for client-centred approach to care. The Department is currently drafting the rules after consultation with consumers and their carers. Â

Healthy Ageing online learning provides information about healthy eating, getting active and falls prevention, all at your own pace, from the comfort of your own home, for free. Â

Consumer Voice Film Series
The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing has developed a video series to encourage older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to ask for what they need from Aged Care Services.
The video has been translated into over 40 languages including, Gujarati, Khmer, Burmese and Bengali.

National Dementia Action Plan 2024-2034
The National Dementia Action Plan has been unveiled. The roadmap looks at creating a more dementia-inclusive Australia.
There are 8 high level actions that aim to increase dementia awareness, reduce the population's risk of dementia, and improve service coordination for those affected.  Â
The initiative also aligns with the World Health Organisation's Global Action Plan on Dementia, demonstrating Australia’s commitment to global dementia care standards.
