Raising Awareness about Gambling Harm

Education Workshop for Service Providers

The Gambling Impact Society is here to raise community awareness about the impacts of gambling and gambling harm in the community, and about how people can get support through local GambleAware services.

By the end of the session participants will:

  • have explored the lived experience of someone who has had a gambling problem and is in recovery
  • have reflected on the impacts that this experience has had on the person’s family and friends
  • identified early warning signs of gambling becoming a problem
  • have increased awareness about how gambling impacts individuals, families and communities
  • have identified sources of help for someone who is experiencing negative impacts from gambling
  • be informed of support services in their local area and online
  • have had an opportunity to discuss the issues raised.

Consumer Voice Spokespersons have a lived experience of gambling harm and will share their personal stories as part of this presentation. Their stories always add a wealth of knowledge about gambling harm that can only come from a lived experience. Their journey of recovery and how they stay well is inspirational.
