Make a Difference in Your Community

At Blue Sky Community Services, our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. Every day, volunteers help us create stronger, more connected communities by supporting older people, people with disability, families, carers, and individuals experiencing vulnerability.

Whether you have a few hours to spare each week or are looking for a meaningful way to give back, volunteering with Blue Sky is an opportunity to make a genuine difference in someone’s life while becoming part of a supportive and welcoming team.

Why Volunteer With Us?

Volunteering is more than just giving your time – it’s about building connections, sharing skills, and helping people live happier, healthier, and more independent lives.

As a Blue Sky volunteer, you can:

  • make a positive impact in your local area
  • build meaningful relationships and connections
  • learn new skills and gain valuable experience
  • share your knowledge, talents, and interests
  • increase your confidence and wellbeing
  • be part of an organisation that values inclusion, respect, and community.

Who Can Volunteer?

We welcome people from all backgrounds, ages, and experiences. Whether you’re a student, working professional, retiree, or simply someone who wants to contribute to their community, we’d love to hear from you.

  • Volunteers must be 18 years or older and willing to undertake a national police check.
  • For health and safety reasons, volunteers for some programs (e.g. aged care) are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID and to maintain an annual influenza vaccination.
  • We ask all our volunteers to demonstrate respect for diversity and a commitment to inclusive practice.

How we support our volunteers

Training and Support

When you volunteer with Blue Sky, you’re never on your own. We provide training, resources, and ongoing support to help you feel confident and prepared in your volunteer role.

Our team works closely with volunteers throughout their journey, from the initial matching process through to ongoing check-ins and support.

We are an inclusive employer

We believe that the makeup of our workplace should reflect the diversity of the communities we work within. We therefore strongly encourage people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and people who have lived experience of disability, to apply to work with us.

We want you to bring your best self to the volunteering process. If you feel you may require any adjustments during the process, please contact our Inclusive Communities Manager at melaniejacobs@bluesky.org.au or (02) 6651 1788 to discuss.
