Grandcarers Lunch 2025

The Ballina Grandcarers Lunch was held in a spirit of love and gratitude to honour the extraordinary grandcarers who step into full-time caregiving roles, providing unwavering support and stability to their grandchildren. Under the heartfelt theme “Millions of Reasons to Share”, Grandcarers Week 2025 was a special occasion to recognise and celebrate the remarkable individuals whose dedication transforms lives every day.

On 20th October our community gathered with warmth and appreciation, sharing a delicious lunch made possible by the generous support of Carers NSW, and beautiful flowers from Hartley’s Fresh Market. It was a wonderful opportunity for connection, reflection, and mutual encouragement.

Throughout the day, the atmosphere was filled with kindness and joy. The vivacious Yvette Connors inspired everyone, bringing freedom back to their bodies by having participants embrace the movements of Nia Dancing. Paul’s music lifted spirits, Kenny Mac created memories through his photography, and Mandy Nolan’s light-hearted comedy reminded us of the resilience and humour that Grandcarers bring to their families’ lives. Thanks to Luke and Larry from The Kitchen in Ballina, families enjoyed a delicious feast and takeaway dinners, ensuring everyone felt valued and cared for.

Our Grandcarers project exists to provide support, resources, and a sense of community for these inspiring caregivers. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed their time, talents, and kindness to make this celebration so meaningful.

To all the grandcarers out there—thank you for your boundless love, strength, and compassion. Your dedication is a gift, and Blue Sky is truly honoured to stand beside you. You are the heart of our community, and you continue to inspire us all.

Grandcarer meetings are held in Ballina on the first Monday of the month at 11:30 am.
