Nocturnal Wildlife at the Botanic Garden

Spotlight possums, koala and other animals with experienced guides walking safe paths through the natural forests of the botanic garden.

Join the volunteer guides of the garden for a magical evening to search for possums, gliders, bats, maybe a koala ...and other little critters whose eye shine in the dark! Also experience the amazing world of nature's fluorescence under UV light. This 2km night walk follows paths through natural forests and planted gardens. We pause along the way to learn how the wild creatures live, what they eat and why they make such strange noises in the dark.

Tour size is strictly limited and bookings are essential. Bring a torch and insect repellent. Please wear enclosed shoes or sandals and bring an umbrella if there are passing showers.

Lego Masters Exhibition at Yarrila

Vintage objects meet miniature LEGO brick worlds in RELICS: A New World Rises, an extraordinary exhibition created by LEGO Masters winners. After School Lego Club

Children can unleash their imagination, develop problem-solving skills, and build teamwork experiences through hands-on Lego challenges.

Join the After School LEGO Club at Harry Bailey Memorial Library!

Every Monday after school, kids aged 7-10 years (Years 3-5) are invited to join us for LEGO Club at Harry Bailey Memorial Library. It’s the perfect opportunity for kids to:

  • build, create, and explore with LEGO
  • challenge themselves with fun building tasks
  • develop critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity
  • make new friends and have fun!

Date: Mondays after school

Come together and game on!

Enjoy a friendly and casual morning of games at Harry Bailey Memorial Library! Our sessions on the SECOND Wednesday of each month offer a chance to connect with others over a cup of tea, learn new games and enjoy old favourites in relaxed environment.

Games morning is for everyone aged 16+, all skill levels, from beginners up! Don't know how to play? We select games where rules are easy to pick up, and teach you the rules in a fun, supportive environment.

Tech Essentials – Making tech easy!

Learning technology doesn’t have to be confusing—or boring! Tech Essentials is a practical, hands-on program for adults and seniors. Get the skills you need with supportive guidance in a way you can understand.

A Journey through Aboriginal Culture and Landholder Partnerships

An evening celebrating Aboriginal culture and the powerful partnerships between Traditional Owners and local landholders working together to care for country.

Join North Coast Local Land Services for an evening of reflection, learning, and connection as we explore how landholders and Aboriginal communities can work together to care for Country.

Through real examples of on‑ground collaboration, this event highlights the shared knowledge, respect, and relationships that help restore balance to the land and deepen cultural understanding.

Your free ticket includes live performances from local Aboriginal musicians, tastings of traditional bush tucker, and conversations with landholders who have partnered with Aboriginal communities to strengthen cultural awareness and improve the health of their properties.

The night will also feature Narlu, a short film showcasing the restoration of Narlu and the cultural significance behind the project. In addition, Local Land Services will launch their new Cultural Handbook, a practical guide designed to help landholders identify, respect, and protect Aboriginal culture on their land. This is a unique opportunity to listen, learn, and celebrate the power of working together on Country.

Bellingen Plant Fair

Presented by the Bellingen Environment Centre Inc., on Gumbaynggir Country, the Bellingen Plant Fair is a biannual celebration of all things green!

The Bellingen Plant Fair is a non-profit event supporting local plant growers. They are on a mission to get more plants on our earth. All profits from the Plant Fair support the important work of the Bellingen Environment Centre Inc.

Tech Savvy Seniors at your Library

Bellingen Shire Libraries are excited to be offering the Tech Savvy Seniors program at all branches, in partnership with the NSW Government and Telstra. This initiative offers free technology training to seniors, helping them confidently navigate the digital world.  

The Shire Libraries are offering drop-in sessions for our Seniors with little or no digital experience, providing hands-on support to develop essential skills for socialising, accessing services, and managing personal tasks online. Participants will receive guidance on using computers, tablets, smartphones, the internet, email, and social media platforms. ‘We are here to help our community embrace the digital age,’ said Shire Librarian, Rowena Sierant. ‘Our team can also assist you with downloading our library apps, giving you access to talking books, e-books or magazines all through your smart phone.’

Lifeline Crisis Support Phone Volunteers Information Night

Lifeline Mid Coast is seeking people who would like to make a difference.

Learn how you can become a lifeline for those in need by joining us at our information night. This in-person event will provide you with all the information you need to make a difference in someone's life. Whether you're looking to give back to the community or gain valuable skills, this event is perfect for you. Come and find out how you can be a lifeline for those in need. Accidental Counsellor Foundations 1-day Workshop

The Lifeline Accidental Counsellor Foundations Workshop will provide you with necessary skills and tools to be able to step into the shoes of an accidental counsellor momentarily, respond appropriately, efficiently and effectively to people in crisis or distress when there may not be a professional immediately available.

Participants gain a greater understanding of how to communicate more effectively and learn strategies to help foster effective and trusting relationships with clients or peers. The workshop is flexible and interactive, encouraging participants to ask questions, share their experiences, practice skills and engage in self-reflection.

Two workshops are on offer in Port Macquarie:

Chill & Chat – Free Men’s Program

Looking for a relaxed space to connect, unwind and enjoy some time just for you?

Chill & Chat is a FREE program creating a safe, welcoming space for men to come together, play games, socialise and enjoy some snacks.

This all abilities program is open to men experiencing mental health challenges, living with disability, supporting someone with disability, facing social or physical barriers or anyone simply wanting some extra “me time” to focus on their wellbeing.

Chill and Chat events are held at Port Macquarie and Wauchope.

Free Group Meditation and Mindfulness Sessions

An informal, friendly and relaxed session offering tips and tools on practising mindfulness and meditation, as well as a variety of short practices to help de-stress, relax the body, calm the mind and emotions. Different tips and meditations offered weekly.

All sessions are one hour and facilitated by Bernie Ginnane - Counsellor & Meditation & Mindfulness Facilitator.

Held once a month on Saturday mornings and once a month on Thursday afternoons.

Strength in Motion

Strength in Motion is a free, inclusive wellbeing group for men and women looking to move their bodies gently and confidently. Each week focuses on one session of guided movement, using pilates- and yoga-inspired techniques to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and mobility.

Designed for all abilities, this supportive and relaxed group encourages you to move at your own pace in a safe, welcoming environment. Whether you’re new to movement or returning after a break, Strength in Motion offers a positive space to reconnect with your body and support your overall wellbeing.

This free program runs on Mondays from 12 to 1pm followed by a 30 minute peer group.

Raising Warriors Mum’s Support and Wellness Group

Raising Warriors is a supportive mums’ wellness group created to nurture you while you nurture everyone else. Each week focuses on one calming or restorative activity, offering something different to support your wellbeing.It’s a safe, welcoming space to slow down, connect with other mums, and take time just for you.

On-site childcare is available, so you can fully relax and enjoy the session knowing your little ones are close by and cared for. Come as you are and refill your cup while building strength, balance, and connection.

This is a free group and childcare is available each week.

Empower Her Women’s Wellness

Empower Her is a welcoming women’s group designed to help you slow down, connect, and invest in your wellbeing. Each week focuses on one activity, offering something new to explore.It’s a relaxed and supportive space to try new experiences, express yourself, build confidence, and connect with other women. Come as you are and take time to recharge, learn something new, and feel empowered.

 This program runs once a week for 6 weeks.

Grow Catch & Cook – Free Garden-to-plate Program

Grow, Catch & Cook is a free, all-ages garden-to-plate program that brings people together through hands-on, practical activities. Sessions are built around activities such as gardening, fishing, or cooking, creating opportunities to learn together and enjoy the journey from start to finish. The program encourages support workers, family members, and carers to attend alongside participants, making it a shared and inclusive experience.

In a relaxed and welcoming environment, Grow, Catch & Cook supports learning, teamwork, and wellbeing while celebrating the journey from garden and sea to the plate.

This free program runs on Wednesdays from 12:20 to 2pm at the Lake Cathie Community Hub and Garden.

Pocket Speechie – Free Program for Pre-school Children

Pocket Speechie is a free program for children who are going to school in 2026 and 2027. Pocket Speechie provides helpful tips to build your child’s speech, language, and literacy skills, delivered to your phone. These are written by speech pathologists and include tips and fun activities.

The SMS program is about to start for 2026, with topics including:

  • Transition to school and school readiness
  • Typical speech sound development
  • Vocabulary and language development
  • Book sharing
  • Hearing and the links with speech and language

Complete the Certificate IV in Community Services

Always wanted to work in community and support people? A Certificate IV in Community Services can provide you with the qualification you need to get started. This course will give you skills to effectively support individuals in community settings, or community-based programs.

Our dedicated teachers will teach you how to listen and respond to your clients needs, follow safe work practices, work with diverse groups of people and manage personal stressors at work.

This course can be studied online and starts 2 February 2026.

Auslan Emergency Interpreting App Now Available

The Auslan Emergency Interpreting (AEI) App is now available for Deaf and hard of hearing Australia, giving our community equal access to Triple Zero (000) for the first time in history.

To help you get started, we've created two short step-by-step demo videos for iPhone and Android.

Each video will show you how to download the app, open it for the first time, and get ready to make an emergency call with a NAATI qualified Auslan interpreter.

Inclusion Support available for Businesses, Organisations and Community Groups

Blue Sky's Inclusive Communities team can provide inclusion support to your business, organisation (non-NDIS providers), community or sporting group, to assist you with how to be more welcoming and supportive of people with disability visiting your space.

An Inclusive Communities Coordinator can deliver sensory awareness education to your team, and provide support to create your own sensory kit. Or your team may benefit from person-first disability awareness education to ensure they utilise respectful language and avoid assumptions. Or you may like assistance to create your own social story to welcome people to your space.

Supports can be tailored to your needs - pick and choose what you'd like! And supports are free!

Community Consultation on Inclusive & Accessible Events

Blue Sky Community Services (NDIS LAC Partner in the Community) is currently developing some new resources promoting inclusion and accessibility, and we need your help!

Our aim is to educate and empower organisations to create more inclusive and accessible environments, where everyone is welcome, safe and included. To ensure that our resources meet the expectations and needs of those living with disability, we would love to know your experiences and needs.

This short anonymous survey is a great way to have your experiences acknowledged. 

Mid North Coast Virtual Care

Emergency Departments are for emergencies: Is the Emergency Department the best place for you or your patient?

If you have a mild illness and it’s not an emergency, consider if there is a better way to get better.

MNC Virtual Care can direct you or your patient to a GP or nurse for advice or assistance over the phone, or help link and refer you to the right service to best meet your health needs.

Community Connections Guide – Inclusive Groups in our Communities

Blue Sky Community Services created the Community Connections Guide to encourage social inclusion across the Mid North Coast. The guide contains profiles of local groups and includes information on how to join, what to expect, and a list of accessibility features.

Community members can use the guide to explore groups they may wish to connect to.

Community groups can reach out to Blue Sky to be featured in the guide - It’s free to list! We can also assist you with easy practical ways your group can celebrate diversity, promote inclusion and, most importantly, make people feel like they belong.

Long Service Leave in the Sector Information

On 1st July 2025 the NSW Government introduced a new portable long service leave scheme. Under the scheme, those who do eligible work in the community services industry can accrue long service leave across different jobs, employers and contracts.

The scheme allows eligible workers to submit a claim for long service leave after seven years of service even if they've worked for more than one employer. This applies to people doing community service work on a full-time, part-time or casual basis.

Keep Your Eyes Peeled for Inclusion Boards within the MNC!

Keep an eye out for these colourful inclusion boards in hospitals and community health centres across the Mid North Coast Local Health District! The boards have been developed as part of Blue Sky Community Services' Enhancing Inclusion in the Health System project, with the QR code taking the scanner to important information and resources that support inclusion in the health system for people with disability.
