16 Days of Activism - Neurobiology of Professional Wellbeing from DFV context
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a global annual campaign held from November 25 to December 10, dedicated to raising awareness of violence against women and girls as a fundamental human rights violation. The campaign calls on individuals, communities, and organisations around the world to come together, demand accountability, advocate for prevention, and foster a culture rooted in equality, safety, and respect for all.
As part of our 16 Days of Activism campaign, this workshop will explore the impact of working with traumatised children and young people and consider how our understanding of neurobiology can inform our approach to professional wellbeing. This workshop supports us to conceptualise the neurobiological components of vicarious trauma and offers a professional framework to ensure our wellbeing in the midst of this challenging work.
We are joined by Senior Consultant, Jennifer Knoll from the Australian Childhood Foundation. Jen’s work is informed by a strong understanding of the impacts of trauma on children, young people, and the systems that support them. Jen has worked in child protection, out-of-home care, family violence services, and educational settings. She has partnered with schools and organisations across Australia to support trauma-transformative practice, staff wellbeing, and system-wide change. Jen designs and delivers training that is evidence-informed, reflective, and grounded in practice. She is committed to supporting professionals to deepen their understanding of trauma, strengthen their capacity, and sustain their wellbeing. Jen is a Mental Health Social Worker and Art Therapist with qualifications in developmental trauma and adult education.
Blue Sky Community Services is hosting a series of five live webinars featuring thought leaders and influential practitioners who are making a significant impact in this field.
