16 Days of Activism - What is response-based practice in the DFV field?
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a global annual campaign held from November 25 to December 10, dedicated to raising awareness of violence against women and girls as a fundamental human rights violation. The campaign calls on individuals, communities, and organisations around the world to come together, demand accountability, advocate for prevention, and foster a culture rooted in equality, safety, and respect for all.
As part of our 16 Days of Activism campaign, Kimberly will unpack and explore the nuances of response-based practice when working with survivors of domestic and family violence and provide key takeaways to integrate into your practice.
Blue Sky Community Services is hosting a series of five live webinars featuring thought leaders and influential practitioners who are making a significant impact in this field.
Kimberly Chiswell identifies as an uninvited settler migrant of Anglo-Mexican heritage, holding white, able-bodied, and cisgender privileges. She graduated with a degree in Social Work from the University of Sydney in 2000 and brings over 25 years of experience, including facilitating the Response-Based Practice Certificate in Australia. Kimberly now refers to herself as a "social worker in recovery," acknowledging the harm that social work as a profession can and does inflict on vulnerable communities. She is deeply committed to advancing liberatory practices that confront state-sanctioned racialised and gender-based violence, both nationally and globally.
