Managing Psychosocial Hazards and Risks in the Workplace
Blue Sky Community Services is partnering with Creative Training to offer this 4-hour online workshop on managing psychosocial hazards and risks in the workplace for community service organisation managers and employees. Did you know that it is now compulsory for all organisations in NSW to have a psychosocial risk management plan in place? Important changes to Commonwealth Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws were instigated in April 2023, which many workplaces are not yet implementing. Mental illness is now the leading cause of sickness absence and long-term work incapacity in Australia. More workers are absent due to stress and anxiety than flu and other physical illnesses or injuries.
"Mental illness is also associated with high levels of presenteeism. In Australia alone, poor mental health at work is estimated to cost the economy billions. With this in mind, it makes sense to address mental health and wellbeing in every workplace" (Blackdog Institute).
This training covers the twelve psychosocial hazards and the safety controls for each one.
What you’ll learn:
- Legal obligations to meet legislative requirements for managing psychosocial hazards and risks
- How to identify areas for improvement in managing psychosocial hazards and risks
- Strategies for the risk management process, including consultation, record-keeping processes and the use of workplace surveys.
The training is highly recommended for managers, but also suitable for general employees.
